Education
The Education Commission is dedicated to helping parishioners both young and old learn more about the Christian faith and life. The commission oversees adult education programs, youth, children, and intergenerational activities for the parish. The Commission decides on Sunday forums, special classes held throughout the year, seasonal activities, and Sunday School and youth programming. If you are interested in participating with the Education Commission please speak with Sally Roof or The Rev. Jane Gerdsen.
Sunday School: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
St. Andrew’s uses a program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for our Sunday School. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to religious education that honors the spiritual potential of the child. This program was developed by Biblical scholar, Sofia Cavalletti and modeled on Maria Montessoris principles of child development. Each week the children gather in a room prepared for them called an atrium. This specially prepared space contains many hands-on materials that the children can work with and use, such as a model altar and dioramas of Jesus life. The children also gather around a prayer table each week to listen and talk to God. St. Andrew’s offers this program Sunday mornings at 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Youth Group
St. Andrew’s Youth Group is a place for youth to gather for fun and fellowship. Our youth group is made up of a diverse and energetic group of kids. We gather for conversation, for service projects and for fun. Discussion is always encouraged and everyone is welcome. To find out more about our youth group activities, contact Tracy Pair or just come to church!

Confirmation Class
St. Andrew’s offers classes to prepare youth and adults for confirmation. Our next confirmation class will be in the Fall of 2007 on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 am. To find out more information about confirmation, contact the Rev. Jane Gerdsen.
Adult Forums
The Sunday Forum is a time to gather and discuss topics of concern and interest in our lives as Christians. Although coffee hour provides us with time for greeting each other, we are rarely able to have an in-depth conversation about our spiritual lives, our doubts, or events in our week. St. Andrew’s offers special adult forums throughout the year. Click
here for upcoming forums.
Adult Classes
Throughout the year, St. Andrew’s offers several adult education classes that meet in the evenings during the week. These classes are a time to learn more in depth about Scripture, church history or practice, or just about how we can live out our faith. These classes are open to anyone who is interested and who likes to ask questions. Click
here for a list of upcoming classes and classes that have been offered recently.
