In Time of Need

Parish Admnistration and Leadership

Worship is central to our lives at St. Andrew’s. Learn more:

Acolytes and Crucifers: Crucifers and acolytes perform a vital role in our 10:30 am Sunday worship service throughout the year. This group of people (including children, teenagers, and adults) plays a significant role in the liturgy and spiritual life of the church by lighting the altar candles, leading the processions, receiving the offerings, and assisting the celebrant. It is never to late to be an acolyte! Let us know if you are interested in acolyting.

Altar Guild: The Altar Guild prepares the church for all services, as well as for all weddings, baptisms, and funerals throughout the year. The Altar Guild is responsible for preparing the elements, changing the altar hangings according to church season, and arranging the flowers. If you would like to help with the Altar Guild, please speak with Carol and Ed Sanders.

Choir and Music: St. Andrew's Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. The choir sings regularly at the 10:30 Sunday morning Eucharist and on special feast days. The choir sings from September through May. Singing in the choir is a wonderful way to be a part of the St. Andrew’s community and to participate in worship in a new and different way. If you are interested in joining our choir or have questions, please contact our Parish Musician, Jennifer Vice.

Lectors, Intercessors, and LEMS: The lectors are members of the congregation who come forward to read the first and second lessons. The Intercessors lead us in the Prayers of the People. Lay Eucharistic Ministers or chalice ministers vest for the service and assist at the altar as chalice bearers. For more information about LEMs, Intercessors, and Lectors, please contact Harry Beyoglides.

Ushers and Greeters: Parishioners serve as ushers and greeters. They hand out bulletins, extend a warm welcome to all worshipers, present the offerings and elements, and guide the congregation, as needed. If you would like to learn more about ushering or are interested in joining the Ushers' Guild, please contact Carlos Romero. Outreach Ministry Teams

The Outreach Ministry Teams are dedicated to carrying out St. Andrew’s mission and sharing Christ’s love and compassion with the world. The Teams administer the financial resources allocated by the Vestry for outreach in ways that foster the involvement of all parishioners. You are all invited to participate in our outreach activities. To find out about St. Andrew’s current parish ministries, click here.

The Fellowship Commission organizes social activities aimed at fostering fellowship among church members. The commission seeks to make both new and long-time parishioners feel welcome and involved in the life of St. Andrew’s by providing opportunities for parishwide fellowship. Activities of the commission include:

Coffee Hour: These weekly gatherings after church services provide an opportunity for parishioners to visit with each other, as well as to welcome newcomers into our community. Coffee Hour takes place after the 10:30am service, is presented in the Parish Hall. Volunteer parishioners sign up to host Coffee Hour several times a year. If you are interested in hosting a Coffee Hour or have questions, please contact the parish office.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper: On Shrove Tuesday, the night before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, the youth of St. Andrew’'s put on a pancake supper for the parish. Mardi Gras crafts and music are offered. All are invited to join in this celebration.

Annual Meeting Potluck: A wonderful mid-winter gathering for our parish, this potluck is part of the parish’s Annual Meeting, which usually takes place in late February or early March.

Parish Picnic: This celebration of the coming of summer is usually held the last Sunday in May, after the 10:30am service. Hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as potluck salads and desserts, are served; everyone is invited to relax and enjoy the season which catching up with old friends — and meeting new ones — before people begin to disperse for the summer. The Commission is always looking for new ideas and people interested in turning those ideas into reality. Please contact the parish office if you have suggestions, ideas, questions, or interest in working with us.

Pastoral Care

The Fellowship Commission also helps keep the parish informed about the needs of the parish. We have parishioners who are willing to take food, flowers, or home communionions to anyone in need.

Pastoral Care Ministry Team has members who knit prayer shawls for anyone in need of comfort and healing, sends birthday cards and get well cards to parishioners, and organizes a prayer chain for anyone in need of special prayers for healing.  St. Andrew’s also offers healing and laying on of hands during worship the 3rd Sunday of each month.

If you are interested in this ministry please contact the parish office at 937.278.7345.
